Greet the Elephants at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo

The tropical rainforest. The Australian outback. The African serengeti. You can visit all of them without ever leaving Cleveland at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. The large city zoo imports critters from all over the world and sets them up in comfortable habitats similar to their actual homes, giving Cleveland dwellers a front-row seat to the exotic animals' daily lives.

Right when you walk in, you'll stumble upon the African Elephant Crossing. Massive gray creatures lumber around the enclosure, lounging in the sun or cooling off in the water. The African plains habitat houses even more animals from the serengeti, from towering giraffes to trotting zebras—though the African lions prowl around a separate enclosure. Another popular exhibit is the Rainforest Atrium and Aviary, the stomping grounds for colorful monkeys, parrots, and amphibians and reptiles. Meander around the zoo to experience these exhibits and many more.
